Luka Doncic spent some time away from his Los Angeles Lakers as he recovered from an injury, but he was back in a big way on Friday night.

Doncic wasn’t held back by an injury at all and produced 44 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists for his team on the way to their 117-112 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to NBA History, Doncic now joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in league history to start a season with three straight 40+ point games.

Doncic has been nothing but net since starting the new season, averaging 45.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game, shooting 58.4 percent from the field.

This is the exact sort of start that the fans were hoping for during the summer, especially since it was clear that Doncic had taken great care of his body and was coming into the new year with MVP and championship aspirations.

Sadly, Doncic then got injured after only a few games and missed the last week of playing, but the Lakers were left in good hands.

They are currently 4-2 and are looking to improve that record now that Doncic is back

If everything goes according to plan, the Lakers will have LeBron James back in the lineup in a few weeks.

Until then, Doncic will obviously be the team’s primary scorer.

His stats are ridiculously high, and most people expect them to dip a bit in the weeks and months ahead.

But right now, Doncic is quite literally putting up historic numbers.
