Following a collective meltdown of the Jets offensive line in Detroit, GM Darren Mougey is moving to find some depth along the interior through free agency with left guard Dylan Parham banged up.

Gang Green has added rookie undrafted free agent Nick Dawkins out of Penn State, along with veteran Jimmy Morrissey, who has played in fifteen career games, to their practice squad.

Either one being added to the roster on such short notice is unlikely, which means Kohl Levao could find himself being elevated prior to Sunday’s game against the Bears.  Levao was added back in June of 2024 after a stint in the UFL.  He is yet to take a regular-season snap but has taken more snaps than any other Jet over the past three preseasons.

The poor performance from the O-line has to come as a bit of a shock to Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn.  Viewed as a very good unit that would be one of the few constants this season, we’ve seen Olu Fashanu and Josh Myers get beaten badly over the past two weeks, while backup guard/center Jordan Meredith may have prevented a Jets comeback as he blew a blocking assignment that led to a game-ending strip sack.

Rookie guard Anez Cooper will be eligible to come off of short-term IR after this Sunday’s game, but that doesn’t guarantee his health.  Then, of course, there’s the fact that we don’t know if the Jets feel he’s ready to get on the field just yet.  After all, he was a day-three pick who many viewed as a multi-year project.
