August 2 – The Toronto Blue Jays placed slugging outfielder George Springer on the 7-day concussion list Friday, four nights after he was hit in the head with a pitch. The move was made before Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. It is retroactive to Tuesday. Springer was plunked by Orioles right-hander Kade Strowd during Monday’s 11-4 loss to Baltimore. Springer was face down on the ground for more than a minute, but he remained alert before eventually being helped off the field. Springer, 35, is batting .291 with 18 homers and 57 RBIs in 101 games this season — the four-time All-Star’s best showing as a hitter since 2021. Toronto also activated center fielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring)
