Luis Patiño finally stumbled at Double-San Antonio.
It was enough to bury the Missions’ hopes of a first-half title in the Texas League South.
Patiño could not escape the third inning Sunday as San Antonio lost an 8-1 decision to visiting Frisco, handing the division to a Midland team that held the tiebreaker
Patiño (0-1, 2.95 ERA) allowed five runs in 2⅔ scoreless. He struck out three, walked three and allowed five hits.
Left-hander Ryan Och (4.13 ERA) struck out two over 2⅓ scoreless innings.
Right-hander Tyson Neighbors (6.00 ERA) allowed two runs in the eighth inning.
Shortstop Francisco Acuña (.788 OPS) had a double and third baseman Devin Ortiz (.689 OPS), second baseman Ripken Reyes (.711 OPS) and left fielder Kai Murphy (.648 OPS) all had two hits.
San Antonio is 39-30.
