A future in the NBA is never promised to any player, and athletes have multiple options, now more than ever.
If their time in the league comes to an end, they can travel overseas and start another chapter in their career.
Talen Horton-Tucker, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, and Chicago Bulls, has decided to head to Turkey and play for Fenerbahçe Istanbul.

Horton-Tucker got his start in 2019, playing for the Lakers and averaging 5.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists during his rookie year.
He only played in six games but stepped it up in a huge way during his second year, when he produced 9.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
He did even better in his final season with the Lakers before he moved to the Utah Jazz for two years.
His final run in the league was last season, when he played for the Bulls and averaged 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
For a brief time, it looked like Horton-Tucker could become a reliable bench player, or even a starter for the right squad.
But as his minutes on the court diminished, he likely weighed his options and considered what was best for his future.
Horton-Tucker is just one of many players who have decided to move overseas instead of pursuing more time in the NBA.
There are more and more options for players like Horton-Tucker, athletes who have a lot of skills but never took off like they wanted in the league.
Various foreign venues give them a chance to shine, make good money, and still hold on to the hope of returning to the NBA someday.
Horton-Tucker is just 24 years old, which means he still has time to come back to the association in the future, but for now, he will be on the court in Turkey.
