According to Carmelo Anthony, he saved the best for last.

While speaking about his storied NBA career, Anthony talked about what his greatest season was.

To the surprise of some, he said he was best when with the Lakers at the very end of his NBA tenure.

“My best year I ever had was with the Lakers… if you look at analytics, the Lakers year was one of my best years,” Anthony said.

Although he was once one of the brightest starters in the league, Anthony came to the Lakers as a supporting player, someone who would be coming off the bench when LA needed him.

He only started in three games, but put in his all during each match.

He averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists during his year with the Lakers.

He shot 44.1 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Those technically weren’t the best statistics of his career, despite what Anthony said.

But again and again throughout that year, Anthony was celebrated due to his performance with the Lakers.

He was helpful, reliable, and sometimes crucial for the team, even though they fell short of their goals.

That ended up being his last season in the NBA, and Anthony looks back on it fondly.

So do many Lakers fans, who wish they could have gotten more out of him.

Anthony spent his years with multiple teams, and he helped out all of them.

He had a career that featured multiple highlights, from the beginning to the end.

Unlike some NBA stars, Anthony walked away from the game after a season he was very proud of, and that counts for a lot.
