Austin Reaves is beloved by Los Angeles Lakers fans and players, and for good reason.

During his four seasons with the team, he has worked his way up through the ranks and has become one of the most important parts of the team.

Despite all that success, not everyone agrees that Reaves should remain in Los Angeles.

Robert Horry recently talked about Reaves and said the Lakers should create a sign-and-trade for him because he just doesn’t make sense next to Luka Doncic.

“If the Lakers were smart, they would do a sign-and-trade. And the reason I say that is because when you have a team with two players who are pretty much the same, meaning Luka [Doncic] and AR, and I’m not saying they have the same skill set. They play the same position; they pretty much do the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, I love AR and I think he could play, but you don’t need two of the same players. The NBA is all about a fit. You look at all the great teams, they all have something different. There’s no two [Nikola Jokic’s]. There’s no two [Giannis Antetokounmpos], no two [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s]. You get rid of him. You love him, but from a business standpoint and from a winning standpoint, and if you can get something great for him, you deal him,” Horry said.

Reaves has averaged 14.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on 48.1 percent from the field since joining the Lakers in 2021-22.

He has steadily worked his way higher into the rotation and is now arguably the team’s third option and a crucial part of their present and future plans.

But, Horry isn’t the only person who feels that he’s too similar to Doncic, and perhaps the Lakers should contemplate his value on the trade market.

LA would surely get some amazing offers for Reaves because there are many teams that think he is someone who could lead a franchise.

They would hate to see him go, but the Lakers would benefit from moving him, especially because they have such a talented shooter with Doncic.

Most reports have said the Lakers want to keep Reaves, so Horry’s wish may not be granted anytime soon.
