This is just one of those things that reminds you that officials are humans, and they’re just going to miss stuff on occasion (not that it’s an excuse here! There are replay officials too! What gives?).
In the Minnesota Vikings‘ win over the Cleveland Browns in London on Sunday, Will Reichard tried a 51-yard field goal that was wide right early in the fourth quarter. Nothing out of the ordinary, right?
… Except that the ball clearly hit a wire of some sort that made the ball veer off course. It should have been a re-kick, but it was not. So what happened?
Will The Thill Reichard’s 51-yard field goal attempt pretty clearly hit the wire. Causing it to go from being straight down the middle to violently veering to the right.
Would have resulted in a re-kick.
How did the officials/replay booth not see ANY of this? pic.twitter.com/ppOrcTqmGm

According to Pro Football Talk:
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL concluded that it had no clear view of the ball striking the cable. You can make your own assessment as to whether it was, or wasn’t, clear.
Our assessment: It should have been a re-kick!
