The Washington Commanders continue attempting to tinker with their roster after a disappointing 3-3 start to the 2025 season. One day after a heartbreaking 25-24 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, the Commanders signed 2022 second-round pick Drake Jackson to the 53-man roster. A defensive end from USC, Jackson was drafted by the 49ers, but injuries derailed the early part of his career.
The Commanders could be targeting another high pick from the same draft to add depth to their roster.
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, wide receiver Treylon Burks visited the Denver Broncos on Tuesday and said he will visit Washington on Wednesday. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Burks played collegiately at Arkansas and was selected 18th overall in the 2022 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans.
After a visit to the #Broncos today, source says Treylon Burks is visiting the #Commanders tomorrow. An interesting potential addition. https://t.co/xPa82OwAyX

Injuries derailed Burks’ time in Tennessee, as he only played in 27 games out of a possible 51 in three seasons. He made 17 starts and recorded 53 receptions for 699 yards and three touchdowns. Burks averaged 13 yards per reception. He has also carried the ball 11 times for 66 yards. Burks tore his ACL in 2024, limiting him to five games and he began the 2025 season on injured reserve after clearing waivers. The Titans outright released Burks earlier this month.
Burks has certainly been a disappointment. However, the Titans have arguably been the NFL’s worst-run franchise over the past few seasons. Maybe a change of scenery with good coaching and zero expectations could help the talented Burks get his career back on track.
Washington has dealt with injuries at receiver all season. Terry McLaurin has missed the last three games, and while he’s on track for a Week 7 return, no one really knows. Noah Brown has missed four games and should have already been placed on injured reserve. Deebo Samuel has been on the injury report with a heel injury for the past two weeks.
Burks is bigger than Samuel, but his style is similar. He is a “YAC” guy, meaning he does most of his damage after the catch. It will be interesting to see if the Commanders sign Burks. He could also be a candidate for the practice squad.
Interestingly, Washington chose a wide receiver in the first round from the same draft: Jahan Dotson was selected No. 16 overall and lasted only two seasons before the Commanders traded him.
