Raiders vs. Chiefs: 3 X-factors on defense for Week 7

Washington Wizards

The Las Vegas Raiders ended a four-game losing streak in Week 6, defeating the Tennessee Titans 20-10. The follow-up matchup couldn’t be any more challenging, with their AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs on the schedule for Week 7.

With the Raiders as multi-score underdogs, we’ve identified three defenders who need to serve as X-factors if Pete Carroll’s squad is to pull off the unexpected upset.

Devin White, LB

Devin White was outstanding versus the Titans, totaling nine tackles, one sack, one interception, and one forced fumble. The challenge versus Andy Reid’s offense and Patrick Mahomes will obviously differ from rookie quarterback Cam Ward last week. White needs to fly around and make Mahomes uncomfortable in the pocket.

Tyree Wilson, EDGE

Tyree Wilson was an underrated performer against Tennessee, having recovered a fumble in addition to making a tackle behind the line of scrimmage. The Raiders are rotating across the defensive line around superstar disruptor Maxx Crosby. Wilson needs to stay productive versus the Chiefs’ uneven offensive line.

Eric Stokes, CB

Eric Stokes has been the Raiders’ best cornerback this season. The Chiefs scored 30 points versus the Detroit Lions last week, with Mahomes accounting for four scores himself. With Mahomes playing with more confidence, Stokes needs to ensure he encounters some resistance through the passing game.
