Dam breaks for Texas Rangers’ overworked bullpen in back-and-forth, extra innings loss

The crack of the Baltimore Orioles’ bats in the final two innings of play Monday night may have been mistaken for the sounds of concrete demolition forced by an immense wave of water. The Texas Rangers metaphorical bullpen dam — overworked and overexposed after four straight games that sailed past regulation — finally broke. “They probably needed a day and it showed,” Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said, “because they have been doing such a great job.” The bullpen has, to Bochy’s point, been stable.
