Tommy Carr, Saline’s (Mich.) standout quarterback, capped his high school career with a record-setting senior season, a Michigan commitment, and a legacy that ties directly to one of the state’s most storied football families.
The ALLL-USA Football Midwest Team finalist led Saline to a 10-2 record and the second round of Michigan’s Division 1 playoffs, completing 176 of 254 passes (69.3 percent) for 2,737 yards, 37 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He added another dimension with his legs, rushing 49 times for 276 yards and eight touchdowns, proving himself as a dual-threat quarterback.
His most memorable performance came against Dexter, when he accounted for nine total touchdowns (8 passing, 1 rushing), tying for the third-most in a single game in Michigan high school history.
Carr’s consistency extended beyond his senior year. In 2024, he threw for 2,510 yards and 27 touchdowns against only three interceptions, while rushing for 313 yards and six scores. Across his career, Carr compiled an 18-5 record as a starter, cementing his reputation as one of Michigan’s most efficient and dynamic quarterbacks.

Recruiting
Recruiting followed naturally. Carr initially committed to Miami (Ohio), but last month he flipped to the University of Michigan, becoming the Wolverines’ lone in-state signee of the cycle.
His decision carried symbolic weight: Carr is the grandson of legendary Michigan coach Lloyd Carr and the brother of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr, making his choice to wear maize and blue a continuation of family tradition.
Outlook
Analysts project him as a developmental prospect who could emerge as a starter by his second or third year in Ann Arbor.
Scouting reports highlight Carr’s anticipatory throwing ability, particularly his knack for back-shoulder passes and layering throws into zone coverage. His arm strength improved significantly during his senior season, especially on seam routes and intermediate throws.
Beyond mechanics, Carr’s functional athleticism, including quick feet, short-area elusiveness, and basketball-inspired movement, make him dangerous outside the pocket. Evaluators believe he has the traits to thrive in a pro-spread system and potentially draw NFL Draft consideration down the line.
