2 Nationals who must be on trade block ahead of 2025 deadline

The Washington Nationals are 14 games under .500 heading into Thursday. After looking like they could make some noise this year, Washington has taken a hard left turn. The Nationals are content trading some players for big-time prospects or others that can help sooner rather than later in the big leagues. The Nationals have plenty of young talent that can be considered untouchable.

Nationals’ rebuild draws ‘concerned’ take from insider

An MLB insider gave an eye-opening take on the Washington Nationals’ rebuild. The 2019 World Series champs have had a trying 2025 season so far. This team is currently riding an eleven-game losing streak, sitting at 30-44 overall and second-last place in the NL East. Since it won it all, Washington has not made the postseason, but has been gradually acquiring young talent over the years.

If the Nationals Can’t Beat the Rockies, Who Can They Be Trusted To Beat?

The Washington Nationals have lost three in a row to the Colorado Rockies, extending their losing streak to eleven games. A reminder: the Rockies are on pace to have one of the worst, if not the worst, records in the history of baseball. Washington has one more chance tonight to take care of business against Colorado to avoid a four-game sweep.

Washington Nationals Rookie Prospect Looks Like Real Deal in First Three Games

Things are largely a disaster for the Washington Nationals right now, dropping 11 straight games and sitting on the brink of being swept by the historically awful Colorado Rockies. While the season is on the brink of turning into a complete disaster, the Nationals are also one of the youngest teams in baseball and trying to figure out how to win consistently in Major League Baseball. One of those youngsters has just made his debut this week, and while the wins have obviously not come, the organization’s No. 3 prospect in 22-year-old third baseman Brady House looks like the absolute real deal three games into his career.

Washington Nationals Reliever Considered Prime MLB Trade Deadline Candidate

For a while there, the Washington Nationals looked like they had a chance to make a surprise run toward a National League wild card spot. Instead, they have gone 1-11 in their last 12 including an embarrassing 10-game losing streak that has featured a sweep against the Miami Marlins and two losses at home to the lowly Colorado Rockies. While it’s frustrating for fans, the run gives the front office a clear directive for how to handle the July 31 MLB trade deadline, and that is to sell. When it comes time for general manager Mike Rizzo to start making calls, he’ll have one of the most valuable chips to play of any team at the deadline in closer Kyle Finnegan.

Rockies keep streak alive with big win over Nationals

Although it still will take them something short of a miracle to win a spot in the 2025 MLB postseason down the road, they are at least making some headway of late. After beating the Washington Nationals, 3-1, Wednesday night at Nationals Park in Washington, Colorado is a win this Thursday away from completing just its second series sweep of the 2025 regular season.

Nationals try to end skid against suddenly hot Rockies

The Washington Nationals will look to end an 11-game losing streak and try to avoid completing an 0-7 homestand when they host the Colorado Rockies in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday. Washington began the homestand after getting swept by the New York Mets, looking to get well against a pair of last-place teams, the Miami Marlins and the Rockies. Instead, the reeling Nationals will try to salvage one game before a West Coast road trip. Washington went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position in a 3-1 loss to Colorado on Wednesday.

Rockies’ home-run outburst continues with another win against Nationals

Michael Toglia hit his third home run in two games, German Marquez pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings and the visiting Colorado Rockies sent the Washington Nationals to their 11th consecutive loss, 3-1 on Wednesday night. Jordan Beck had two hits including a homer for the Rockies, who have won four straight for the first time this season. Marquez (3-8) allowed six hits, struck out two and walked two.
