The coach who looms over these playoffs for Mike Brown, starting Saturday, is a familiar one. It’s Tom Thibodeau. Call it the Ghost of Thibs.

The Knicks need KATlanta to reemerge all series against the Hawks. There is perhaps more pressure on Karl-Anthony Towns than any other Knicks player.

So, if Brown wants to change things up in the postseason, it won’t be unprecedented. Each has received an opportunity to play important minutes at some point this year.

At the very least, the Hawks did nothing to avoid the Knicks.

After 82 games of basketball, the NBA playoffs are finally here.

For the first time ever, the NBA is pushing all local network broadcasts out of the playoffs in favor of the national television networks, which paid a hefty price for the rights to air the playoff product.

Now, the Knicks will face off with one of the league’s hottest teams, who have thrived since trading Trae Young.

The Knicks lost twice on Sunday. 

This would all be a lot more interesting if the Hawks hadn’t rid themselves of Trae Young back at the trade deadline, of course, if they hadn’t exiled him to Washington, D.C., which has been pro basketball purgatory, seemingly, since Calvin Coolidge sat courtside.

So, knowing a loss was likely without their main players, the Hawks made it clear they at the very least weren’t overly scared of the Knicks.
