Philadelphia Phillies ace pitcher Zack Wheeler will retire from MLB after the 2027 season, he confirmed to The Athletic. “That’s the plan,” said Wheeler, who turned 35 on May 30. Wheeler, who is among MLB’s best pitchers of this decade, said he will retire even if he continues to perform at a high level. Wheeler dominated against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, tossing six innings while allowing four hits, one earned run and striking out nine.
