Close Reds matchup ends in Twins fifth straight loss

CINCINNATI — A resurgence in the sixth inning gave the Cincinnati Reds a 6-5 lead over the Minnesota Twins which they were able to cling to for the rest of the game. The game started slow with a scoreless pair of innings. Byron Buxton’s 406 foot homer in the top of the third, his twelfth of the year, was the first notable offense of the game. The fourth inning brought momentum back to the Reds. Twins starting pitcher David Festa walked Tyler Stephenson and Elly De La Cruz, allowing them to respond when Will Benson’s double drove both players home.
