Leo De Vries continues to get his season back in order.
The 18-year-old shortstop collected two more hits, including his fourth triple of the season, in high Single-A Fort Wayne’s 8-2 loss to visiting Lansing on Wednesday.
De Vries has multiple hits in three of his last four games, lifting his batting line to .250/.362/.402 through 65 games.
De Vries will represent the Padres in the All-Star Futures Game later this month.
He had a 1.003 OPS in 19 games in April but is beginning to rebound after a poor May (.599 OPS) and June (.659 OPS).
De Vries, however, is also up to 16 errors on the season after committing an error on Wednesday.
Left fielder Jack Costello (.653 OPS) and catcher Oswaldo Linares (.664 OPS) both had two hits.
Right-hander Sam Whiting (0-1, 6.00 ERA) allowed two runs in 2⅔ innings in the start.
Among the relievers to follow him into the game, right-hander Sean Barnett (21.86 ERA) allowed five runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Barnett, 22, is a two-way prospect who has allowed multiple runs in his last four appearances after not allowing a run in four of his first five appearances.
Fort Wayne is 38-38.
