The San Francisco Giants activated third baseman Matt Chapman from the 10-day injured list prior to Saturday night’s contest against the host Athletics. Chapman is batting fourth while playing in his customary defensive spot at the hot corner. Chapman was sidelined with a right hand injury sustained in a game against the Atlanta Braves on June 8. He jammed the hand while diving back to first base in the bottom of the eighth inning and immediately displayed he was in pain. Chapman, 32, played in a rehab game for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday night in Reno, Nev., and went 0-for-3 with a walk. San Francisco was just 9-14 without Chapman and has lost eight of its past 11 entering Saturday’s contest
