After clubbing a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning, Kansas City’s Nick Loftin recorded a walk-off single in the ninth for the Royals’ 4-3 home win over the reeling Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night. Maikel Garcia and Salvador Perez posted back-to-back singles off Pittsburgh’s Dennis Santana (2-2) to open the ninth. Then with one out, Loftin sent an Isaac Matson pitch just out of the reach of sliding Pirates center fielder Oneil Cruz to send Kansas City to a second straight victory over the Pirates and first winning home series since May 5-8.
