Born in Mississippi but raised in Cincinnati, Parker played with Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels and Toronto Blue Jays. During his career as a right fielder and designated hitter, Parker was a seven time all star (1977, 79-81, 85, 86, 90), won three Gold Gloves 1977- 79), won three Silver Slugger Awards (1985, 86, 90), won two National League batting titles (1977-78) and was the National League Most Valuable Player (1978).
