Jack Flaherty deals, Tigers explode for 7-run eighth in win over Jays

Detroit Tigers

DETROIT — Desperate for a spark amid one of their worst stretches in years, the Detroit Tigers finally got one courtesy of two veterans. Jack Flaherty delivered six shutout innings, Gleyber Torres hit a three-run homer, and the Tigers poured out their frustrations in a seven-run eighth inning en route to a 10-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park. The Tigers (61-46) snapped a six-game losing streak, winning for just the second time in 19 days. The Blue Jays (63-43) missed a four-game sweep. In the third inning, Dillon Dingler led off with a single against Jays starter and former Tiger Max Scherzer. Parker Meadows followed with a double off the right-field wall.
