While it doesn’t seem like much, going from 10 days on the Injured List where he was just working out to baseball activities is a big step. Mayer had the option of surgery, but decided to get a shot instead to reduce inflammation in his wrist, so he could come back to play, which the Sox definitely want since they have a chance to make the playoffs.
