Bulls provide details on Derrick Rose’s jersey retirement

Derrick Rose’s jersey always was destined for the United Center rafters, and on Thursday, the franchise announced when that ceremony will take place.

The Bulls said in a statement that Rose’s No. 1 will be retired after the game against the Celtics on Jan. 24, and while they provided some details, they also wanted to save something for later as the date draws closer.

They did disclose that there will be a United Center atrium experience and that four figurines representing different chapters of Rose’s career will be handed out during the season.

The first will be his “Rookie of the Year” figurine on Nov. 4, followed by “Face Mask” Rose on Dec. 17, recalling the start of the 2015-16 season in which he fractured an orbital bone and had to wear a protective mask.

On Feb. 22, it will be the “MVP” figurine in honor of his 2010-11 season. Then it will be “Green Jersey” Rose on March 19 to celebrate the green alternate jerseys worn during the 2010-11 season.

The NBA released the 2025-26 regular-season schedule Thursday, and the Bulls again got Christmas off as well as the pressure of playing in all those nasty nationally televised games from week to week.
It’s Year 3 of the Emirates NBA Cup. The Bulls were non-factors the first two seasons.
The Bulls have several players on the fringe of All-Star status, but only one has a chance to be elite. That’s the weight Buzelis carries for the franchise and the front office.
