Amaeli Foster turned Senior Night into a celebration to remember.
The Claremore pitcher drilled a 2-run homer to center field in the fourth inning, punctuating her own shutout performance and sealing the Lady Zebras’ 9–0 nondistrict victory Thursday over Howe.
The win was fueled by both dominant pitching and a second-inning offensive explosion.
Foster, one of four Claremore seniors honored, went 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBIs while striking out 5 over five scoreless innings in the circle. Fellow seniors also contributed: Avery Hyde doubled home a run in the second and added another hit, Abigail Carter singled in the third and Gabby Garcia reached base twice with a walk and a single.
The defining stretch came in the bottom of the second.
After the Lady Zebras loaded the bases, Garcia scored on a passed ball for the first run of the game. Riley Fay drew a bases-loaded walk, and Bella Weaver followed with another to make it 3–0.
Addison Reavis then doubled to center, plating another pair. Hyde laced an RBI double to left before Foster capped the rally by driving in a run on a fielder’s choice.
By the time the inning ended, Claremore had piled up 7 runs on just 4 hits, taking full command of the contest.
Foster’s fourth-inning blast stretched the lead to nine, bringing home Tilly Andrews, who had drawn one of the Lady Zebras’ 7 walks on the night. That was more than enough support for the senior ace, who scattered 2 hits and never allowed the Lady Lions to mount a serious scoring threat.
Weaver, who walked twice and stole 2 bases, also played a key role in keeping pressure on the bases. Reavis added 2 RBIs with her timely double, while Andrews reached twice on walks.
Defensively, Claremore stayed composed despite 1 error, with Weaver recording multiple outs at third base to help shut the door on Howe’s few chances.
Howe’s Kylie Mundy and Karley Duvall each notched a hit, but the Lady Lions couldn’t capitalize. Pitchers Kadynce Delt and Lexi Scarberry combined to walk 7 while yielding 7 hits.
The Lady Zebras, now riding the momentum of their seniors’ sendoff, turn their attention back to district play with a marquee matchup against leader Pryor at 4 p.m. Monday.
