Because of their Thursday night game last week, the Arizona Cardinals held a practice on Monday that normally they wouldn’t have. Teams often call it a “bonus” practice, and because it isn’t a regularly scheduled one, there is no official injury report.
A number of players were not on the field Monday for their “bonus” practice during the portion that was open to reporters.
Who wasn’t out there on Monday?
Cardinals players not at practice on Monday
Based on what multiple reporters saw during the open part of practice, these players were not present:
- RB Trey Benson
- LB Mack Wilson
- DL Calais Campbell
- SL Darius Robinson
- WR Simi Fehoko
Benson, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon, is “day-to-day,” but did not say what his injury was.
Wilson injured his ankle early in Thursday’s game but returned. Robinson exited the game with a chest injury, and Fehoko is in concussion protocol.
Campbell might simply have had an extra day off. He normally gets Fridays off, but might not have had to do Monday’ practice either. He also left the field late in the game perhaps hurt. He said after the game that he “ran out of gas.”
Two notable players at practice and working in the open portion were cornerback Will Johnson, who missed the last two games with a groin injury, and receiver Zay Jones, who missed Thursday’s game with a concussion. Also practicing was defensive lineman Bilal Nichols, who had his practice window opened so he can be activated from the PUP (physically unable to perform) reserve for a neck injury he suffered last year in Week 6.
