The New York Knicks have a clear path to the NBA Finals, according to many of their fans.
Stephen A. Smith, someone who never holds back his opinion about the Knicks, laid it out clearly on “First Take.”
“I’m looking forward to my Knicks, my New York Knicks, capitalizing off of the Achilles tear to Jayson Tatum, the Achilles tear to Tyrese Haliburton in Indy. The New York Knicks are going to the NBA Finals,” Smith said.

Smith and many others think this year could be the Knicks’ best chance of earning a championship.
They were already in great shape last season, although they ultimately fell short of their goals.
But now the Eastern Conference will be without two of their biggest threats: Tyrese Haliburton and Jayson Tatum.
That severely hurts the chances of both the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics.
Just because those two teams will be less impactful doesn’t mean they’re completely out of the picture, and there are other opponents to consider.
The Milwaukee Bucks could be fierce, and the Cleveland Cavaliers were the top team in the East last season.
Plus, up-and-comers like the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons might get in New York’s way.
Still, a lot of fans think that 2025-26 is going to be magical for the Knicks.
It’s been a long time coming, and the front office has been working hard to put together a robust roster for years.
If the Knicks really are going to compete for a title, they will need to start strong.
That is why people will be paying close attention on Opening Night and during the first few weeks of the season.
