The end of the bye week brought good news for the Green Bay Packers on the injury front.
According to Wes Hodkiewicz of the team’s official site, the Packers returned starting right tackle Zach Tom and starting left guard Aaron Banks to practice on Monday, and the team designated both receiver Christian Watson (PUP) and offensive lineman Jacob Monk (IR) for return, opening their 21-day practice windows.
Tom and Banks both labored through injury-plagued starts to the season. Tom injured his oblique in Week 1, missed Week 2, returned for one snap in Week 3 and missed Week 4. Banks injured his ankle in Week 1, missed Week 2, returned for roughly one half before injuring his groin in Week 3 and missed Week 4. After two weeks off, both Tom and Banks could be physically ready to return at something close to 100 percent in Week 6. The Packers offensive line has struggled to start the 2025 season and desperately needs their preferred starting five to start building continuity on the practice field.
Two additions on offense are coming, too. Watson, who tore his ACL in the regular season finale last season and began the season on the PUP list, is practicing for the first time since the injury. Monk, who injured his ankle during the preseason and started the season on injured reserve, is back on the practice field. Watson could provide a huge boost to the offense on multiple fronts, including as a deep threat, gadget weapon and blocker. Monk will immediately boost the interior depth along the offensive line.
Both Watson and Monk will get a three-week window to practice while not counting on the 53-man roster. It’s possible Watson needs a week or two to get re-acclimated, but either player can be activated to the 53-man roster at any time during the practice window and become immediately eligible to play. The Packers’ roster is curently at 51 of 53 players, so two spots are open.
Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt (knee) and right tackle Anthony Belton (ankle) were both not practicing on Monday, suggesting they are in danger of not playing this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Packers won’t produce the first injury report of Week 6 until Wednesday.
