Karl-Anthony Towns was a great and welcome addition to the New York Knicks last season and helped the team make a strong impression during the playoffs.
But he wants even more from his team and himself in the new season.
Towns recently told Steve Popper that he dropped weight in order to be better for his team.
He shed the pounds so that he can spend more time playing power forward.

Towns has been a power forward before during his years with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the Knicks relied on him as a center.
That might be different in 2025-26, especially if Mitchell Robinson can stay healthy.
Towns as a power forward with Robinson behind him as the center would create a scary frontcourt, and it could be key to the Knicks’ success.
This weight loss and change in positions might be one of many ideas that new head coach Mike Brown is bringing to the team.
He knows that the Knicks have been great, but they haven’t reached their goals.
In order to make that happen, some adjustments might be necessary.
Fans can expect Brown to try a number of new things beyond moving Towns around in the lineup.
Last season, Towns averaged 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds for the Knicks.
He became a crucial part of the team right away and found a strong relationship with the rest of the roster.
He has said that he is willing to do whatever it takes to improve New York’s chances of going far in 2025-26, and his commitment to losing weight and changing his on-court position are signs of that.
