The Kansas City Chiefs‘ Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions will have more meaning beyond the scoreboard. As part of the NFL’s Crucial Catch campaign, the night is dedicated to honoring cancer survivors and educating the public about the importance of early cancer detection.
Crucial Catch: Intercept Cancer aims to move the country towards unprecedented early detection and risk reduction of screenable cancers. In partnership with the University of Kansas Cancer Center, the Chiefs again hosted lunches for patients affected by cancer. They watched practice at the University of Kansas Health System Training Complex.
The Crucial Catch campaign enables the NFL to reach and positively impact a broader population affected by various forms of cancer. The Chiefs recently continued their efforts as linebacker Drue Tranquill surprised University of Kansas Cancer Center patient Renee and her oncologist, Dr. Knox, with tickets to the Week 6 game.
Crucial Catch calls on people across the country to access an NFL-funded digital tool that provides users with recommendations on how to take action to stay healthy and reduce their risk of cancer.
