Amidst the Chargers‘ two-game slide, the offense has taken a noticeable step back. That has translated to fantasy football, where the offensive weapons haven’t been nearly as good recently.
Thankfully, they have a favorable matchup in Week 6 against the 1-4 Dolphins.
Let’s go through this week’s start/sit matchups for the Chargers.
Start: QB Justin Herbert
Herbert has quietly struggled in terms of fantasy after a blazing start to the season. He’s now thrown an interception in three consecutive contests and has failed to register multiple touchdown passes in that same span. The Oregon product has already surpassed his interception total (4) from 2024 (3).
With that being said, this is a favorable matchup given the fact that the Dolphins are the third-worst defense against QBs in fantasy in 2025. The Chargers’ running game may not be nearly as effective either with the absence of Omarion Hampton. That should lead to more opportunities for Herbert, and we should see a bounce-back performance from him in Week 6.
Sit: Hassan Haskins
The appeal is there because the Dolphins possess the worst run defense in all of football. With that being said, the Chargers’ offensive line is banged up. On top of that, we still aren’t quite sure as to what the Chargers’ backfield will look like, as it feels like it will be a committee. Until we know more, it’s hard to imagine putting trust in Haskins in your starting lineup.
Start: Top 3 WRs
For a cornerback room as depleted as the Dolphins’ this year, they haven’t been all that bad, all things considered. With that, expect a lot of passing in this one for the Chargers. That directly benefits the top three wideouts in Los Angeles, all of whom have become viable fantasy options.
Ladd McConkey reached the endzone in Week 5 and enjoyed a solid performance. Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston continue to lead the team in targets and should be started in most of your lineups.
Sit: RB Kimani Vidal
Vidal has a bit more upside than Haskins, particularly in PPR leagues, as he offers more in the passing game. As mentioned in Haskins’ case, though, this feels a bit too risky for a start situation in the first game after Hampton’s injury. Neither of these backs will be workhorses, and while there’s opportunity for some value, it’s hard to predict if either of these guys will become relevant enough for fantasy football.
