The Commanders are not very good… face it.
Monday, they were home to the 2-2 Bears, who haven’t exactly impressed the NFL this season. Yet, here we are sitting shocked that the Commanders gave the ball away three times on Monday night, falling to the Chicago Bears 25-24.
Jayden Daniels threw a bad interception in the red zone early, stopping a Commanders’ scoring drive. Then Bill Croskey-Merritt fumbled for the second consecutive week, giving the ball back to the Bears. If those weren’t enough, on 3rd & 1 with just over three minutes remaining, Daniels again appeared to lack focus.
On the snap, Daniels never clearly gained control, though the snap was not errant. Then, though he didn’t yet have complete control of the snap, Daniels attempted to hand off anyway to Croskey-Merritt. As a result, there never was an actual exchange of the ball; it fell to the turf, the Bears recovered, and had one last chance, trailing 24-22.
Jayden Daniels fumbled once earlier in the game with nobody around and the ball bounced right back to him.
He had an issue handling the slick ball for some reason. Didn’t notice other people fumbling without contact but it was clearly a thing for him.

The Commanders’ defense was again not up to the task, as the Bears ran out the final 3:07 of the game clock with three first downs, as DeAndre Swift had key runs of 10 and 15 yards, setting the stage for Jake Moody’s game-winning, walkoff field goal from 38 yards.
Another horrible start by the Commanders in the first quarter resulted in a 13-0 deficit. Then you add the three turnovers, with the defense knowing the Bears were going to run in the end, and Swift gets the 25 yards on those two carries. That’s it in a quick summary.
The Commanders have yet to put two wins together and are now sitting at 3-3, when they could have/should have been at 4-2, tied with the Eagles.
