Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes discusses Rashee Rice’s return to the lineup

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters before practice on Wednesday, sharing his thoughts on wide receiver Rashee Rice’s return to the lineup in Week 7.

“I think we’ve gotten better and better, and adding guys like Xavier (Worthy) back and then getting Rashee (Rice) back will just continue to hopefully improve what we can do,” said Mahomes, “All you can ask for is to get better each and every week, and I feel like we’re doing that.”

Rice has finished serving his six-game suspension and will make his season debut this Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes discussed further his expectations for Rice as the team hopes to solidify its wide receivers room.

“He’s (Rashee Rice) going to want to be out there every single play. That’s just the mentality that he has,” said Mahomes, “I think it’s going to be our job as teammates and coaches to kind of build him back the right way. It’s going to be hard to keep him off the field for sure.”

Rice hasn’t played a regular-season game since his injury in Week 4 of the 2024 season. He hopes to reclaim his role as the team’s top receiver starting with Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
