- Notre Dame 38, USC 35: I expect this game to play out like last year — a tense nail-biter that isn’t over until the final two minutes. Hide your breakables, Irish fans. The good news is I think the Irish defense has figured out its scheme issues in the secondary, and the pass rush is getting untracked. The young pass defenders are gaining confidence and veterans like Leonard Moore and Adon Shuler are playing better. Again, this one won’t be easy. But I think Notre Dame, aware of what’s at stake and having learned from the early-season losses, pull out a close one.
