Week 7 of the NFL season has started off strongly for the New Orleans Saints‘ defense against the Chicago Bears. Following multiple weeks of less-than-optimal play from their secondary, things finally turned around to some extent for that unit, as rookie cornerback Quincy Riley got an early interception off of Caleb Williams. While it did not end up with points due to a missed field goal from Blake Grupe, it put the team in a good position in terms of momentum.
With the conditions of Soldier Field being rainy prior to kickoff and now relatively cold and inclement, getting some quick pressure and ensuring the Bears are unable to score often will keep the Saints at least within reach of winning this matchup. After a few games that were less than optimal from Riley, he found his stride in this one within the first few series, and now will look to continue a promising performance into the second quarter.

What will become interesting regarding the secondary is who can step up alongside him in this game, as many of the other members of the cornerback and safety groups have been having a difficult time stopping big plays down the field. With Justin Reid still around following his clearance of concussion protocol recently, hopefully, he will at least keep things interesting and make some positive plays for New Orleans.
