The Los Angeles Clippers have released NBA legend Chris Paul. Yes, that’s a real sentence, and if you’re upset over that news, you’re not alone.
In the middle of the night, the organization cut ties with the veteran guard after less than five months with the team. Paul revealed the surprising news on his Instagram story with seven words and a peace sign emoji. “Just found out I’m being sent home,” he wrote.

So, what happened with Paul and the Clippers? Currently, it’s somewhat unclear. The team did release a statement saying it would work with him on the next steps of his career and that “no one is blaming Chris” for the Clippers’ current struggles. However, that doesn’t exactly spell out why Los Angeles released him.
As you might suspect, some fans were so mad about the move. Here’s how they reacted:
The LA Clippers are the worst franchise in the league. Chris Paul deserved way better. That man is the Point God.
Your season is a mess — y’all should’ve locked in and given him the farewell tour he earned.
Your best years were because of him.

Chris Paul got waived at 3 AM in the middle of his farewell tour by the Clippers where he’s recognized as an all time franchise player. Have we ever seen someone done this dirty 😭 https://t.co/jwwNnPKVoypic.twitter.com/iGEjmqIPP5

I don’t care how bad the team is playing or the fact that he’s been struggling
Sending a franchise legend and an all time great home in his final season after he picked to play there is weak as hell
Hope Chris Paul can end up somewhere competitive before the end of the season https://t.co/RgSkAMrDWt

Perhaps more information will come out in the coming days. For now, hopefully, Paul can finish his final season before retiring the way he would like to.
