After a Tuesday of bad news the Bulldogs began Wednesday with something more positive. Paulding County offensive lineman Tyreek Jemison became the first player of the day not publicly committed to the Bulldogs to announce that he’ll be coming to Athens.
The 6’5, 315 pounder, rated the #13 interior lineman in the nation by 247Sports, had been committed to Kentucky but decommitted in October as his recruitment heated up with multiple new SEC offers. Jemison ultimately chose the Red and Black over Auburn and LSU.
Jemison has a thick lower body and honestly looks bigger than his listed 315 pounds. His senior tape looks a lot better than his junior film, showing a guy who plays with a nasty streak and just moves people out of the way. He has the potential to turn into a true road-grading guard, but is also athletic enough to get outside and lead in the screen game. Jemison also made plays for Paulding from the defensive tackle spot, but his permanent home is almost certainly ly on offense.
He’ll need to tighten up his footwork to play at the SEC level (it gets a little aimless when he locks onto inferior opponents and just drives them back onto the bus). But the size, motor, and raw athleticism are definitely there. Champions are built in the trenches, and Jemison looks like a trench monster in the making.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
