Ole Miss players call out LSU’s Lane Kiffin on social media

Many assumed the beginning of the Kiffin era at LSU would be a bit of a soap opera. His introductory press conference gave fans some hope that the former coaching outcast truly had changed, though, as Kiffin was perfectly respectful, thanking LSU’s top brass, his family, and his former school.

But while LSU is filled with hope, the situation is sour at Ole Miss. Two Ole Miss players have disputed a claim of Kiffin’s on his personal “X” page, where Kiffin lamented his needing to leave Ole Miss before the team’s playoff run.

“My request to [coach Ole Miss through the playoffs] was denied by Keith Carter despite the team asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance,” Kiffin wrote.

Both pieces of Kiffin’s statement have been refuted by Ole Miss players, the first being that the team asked for Kiffin to be allowed to continue coaching. Sophomore center Brycen Sanders responded to Kiffin’s statement, as seen below.

This is particularly notable, as Sanders is a member of the team’s leadership council. Fellow linemen Paris Wilkins and Jayden Williams both posted their support of Sanders’ statement, with Wilkins writing, “Fax this was not said from anyone.”

The second player to dispute Kiffin’s statement is linebacker Suntarine Perkins, who responded by saying, “That was not the message you said in the meeting room. Everybody that was in there can vouch on this.”
