.000 — The batting average that Marinaccio allowed against his four-seamer while briefly in the majors in 2025. Marinaccio threw 79 fastballs, averaging 94.2 mph, across 17 plate appearances and six ended in strikeouts. He also allowed an .000 batting average off his sweeper, a .125 average off his cutter and a .455 batting average against his changeup.

Idle — The Yankees’ 19th-round pick out of Delaware in 2017, Marinaccio debuted in 2022 and had a 3.22 ERA over parts of three seasons in New York when he was designated for assignment in September 2024. The White Sox claimed Marinaccio but did not bring him to the majors and then DFA’d him months later to make room for LHP Martín Pérez. That cleared the way for a trade to San Diego for cash considerations and Marinaccio began his Padres tenure at Triple-A El Paso, where he posted a 5.05 ERA over 46⅓ innings. The spot on the Padres’ 40-man roster, however, allowed Marinaccio to move freely between the minors and majors and Marinaccio had three separate stints with the Padres: One in July (2⅔ IP, 0 ER), one in August (2 IP, 0 ER) and one in September (6 IP, 1 ER). The small sample size showed improvement over previous years in expected batting average (.153), barrel rate (7.7%), expected weighted on-base average (.192), walk rate (9.5%) and expected ERA (1.86).
2026 OUTLOOK
As deep as the Padres’ bullpen was, Marinaccio was not included on the NL Wild Card Series roster after finishing the season on the active roster as a September call-up. He’s out of minor league options in 2026, so Marinaccio should get a real opportunity to win a big-league bullpen job this spring.
