Earlier in the week, an argument appeared on Vikings Territory about the merit of hiring Nolan Teasley.
Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network offers the update on who has been hired: “The Vikings agreed to terms with Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as their general manager, sources tell NFL Network. Fresh off a Super Bowl win, Teasley — regarded as one of the NFL’s top young executives — now will try to bring a Lombardi Trophy to Minnesota.”
Vikings Make the Call for the Front Office
In making the move for the former Seattle Seahawks executive, the Vikings have officially replaced Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. The former GM made several good decisions but was undone by fumbling the quarterback spot and through poor drafting.
Someday, Mr. Adofo-Mensah is going to get hired again as a GM. He’ll do very well when given the chance to jump back into the top job. In the meantime, he’s back in San Francisco.

Part of what makes Teasley such as fascinating hire is his background.
Kick it back to Pelissero for some insight: “After six years in a marketing job, Nolan Teasley wrote letters to all 32 teams in 2013 asking for an opportunity to get back into football. He got one interview with the Seahawks and GM John Schneider, who hired him as an intern. 13 years later, Teasley is the Vikings’ new GM.”
Teasley is, essentially, the front office version of Kevin Stefanski. A humble beginning led to soaring very high, suggesting that Teasley possesses not just brains but a work ethic and resilience. He has been part of three Super Bowl journeys and a pair of victories.

Albert Breer fills in some of the gap relating to how the new front office will work: “New Vikings GM Nolan Teasley will report directly to ownership, I’m told. And EVP of football operations Rob Brzezinski, who interviewed for the GM job, plans to stay and work with Teasley and HC Kevin O’Connell. New setup should give the team strong leadership in all 3 areas.”
For a little while, the prediction on this end of the internet was that Brzezinski would continue as the money man as the Vikings made the GM decision by the end of May. There was even an argument that Nolan Teasley should be the man. Every so often, all of the stars align and the predictions end up looking good.
Nolan Teasley is inheriting a good team with good support. He’ll nevertheless have a pile of decisions to make very soon in his job. Working in his favor is that the Vikings’ cap space will get a $12.5 million boost in June, meaning there will be money to spend on roster additions.
