Texas A&M, under the leadership of Bucky McMillan, has been recruiting at an elite level, especially impressive given that he’s a first-year Power Five head coach who essentially had to construct the roster from the ground up. His relentless efforts are beginning to bear fruit with the 2026 class, highlighted by a commitment from combo guard Neiko Mundey out of Landover, Maryland.
Mundey, a 6-foot-3 scorer, averaged 21 points per game and is known for his tenacious on-ball defense. He ranks as a top-50 prospect nationally, the No. 3 player in Maryland, and becomes the first top-100 high school signee for Texas A&M since Manny Obaseki in 2001. He embodies the ideal guard for McMillan’s “Bucky Ball” system, built around high-motor athletes who can both score and defend with intensity.
The four-star recruit shot an impressive 40% from three-point range and consistently earned trips to the free-throw line, converting 73% of his attempts. During his AAU campaign, he emerged as a prolific scorer and a defensive asset, averaging 1.2 steals per contest. Mundey chose Texas A&M over notable programs such as Auburn, Texas, USC, and Oklahoma State.
With Mundey now in the fold, Texas A&M is off to a promising start for its 2026 recruiting class under McMillan, laying the foundation for a formidable squad poised to compete in SEC play for years to come.
