The Los Angeles Lakers have recently become very interested in Andrew Wiggins of the Miami Heat, but they could have a tough time trading for him.
According to Brett Siegel, the Heat are demanding a lot for Wiggins, and they are more than willing to sit tight and let the season play out for a while before they make any big moves.
“Right now, the Heat don’t hold much of a desire to trade Wiggins and are operating under the mindset of waiting to see how things play out during the first few months of the regular season, sources said. Miami has held a high asking price for the former first-overall pick, one that the Lakers haven’t been willing to meet,” via Brett Siegel.
The Heat are NOT discussing an Andrew Wiggins trade with the Lakers, and they are not interested in trading him at the moment, per @BrettSiegelNBA

It seemed like the Lakers were done with their offseason adjustments, but then these rumors about Wiggins popped up.
Apparently, Luka Doncic’s extension with the team has changed the front office’s desires, and they now want to build as much support around him as quickly as possible.
Wiggins looks like the exact sort of player they need: wing support who can work well on both ends of the court.
And while the Lakers are willing to give up some juicy assets for him, they might not be ready to commit to Miami’s tough terms.
Meanwhile, the Heat know they hold the upper hand, and they are okay with not doing anything.
If they aren’t feeling wild about the Lakers’ offer, they will let 2025-26 begin.
They might keep Wiggins and then judge the NBA landscape when the trade deadline approaches in February.
It sounds like the Lakers have to ratchet up their offer or miss out on Wiggins, at least for now.
