Where did Notre Dame fall in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll after beating Purdue?

Minnesota Timberwolves

Notre Dame has jumped two spots to No. 22 in the AP Top 25 poll after its 56-30 victory over Purdue on Saturday.

That may seem disappointing after the blowout against Purdue — but the Fighting Irish were expected to win. Not only that, but to the extent that style points count, the Irish allowed the Boilermakers to hang in the game for about three quarters. Notre Dame also still had the same defensive issues that plagued it during its first two games, even if there was some improvement.

The Irish are also at the mercy of other teams’ movement. Oklahoma jumped four spots to No. 7 after beating Auburn and Indiana jumped eight spots to No. 11 after blowing out Illinois, which fell to No. 23. Texas Tech jumped five spots after defeating Utah.

The top five is Ohio State (no change after a bye week), Miami (FL) (up 2 after beating Florida), Penn State (down one, bye week), LSU (down one despite win over Southeastern Louisiana) and Georgia (no change, bye).

Rounding out the top 10 are Oregon (bye, no change), Oklahoma, Florida State (down one despite win over Kent State), Texas A&M (bye, up one) and Texas (down two, won over Sam Houston).
